The Grand Canyon!

If any of you didn't know already we are moving to Florida and we are driving our way there. Both of us have never been to the Grand Canyon so we definitely wanted to take the weekend to see it. We made it to the Grand Canyon yesterday and took all of today to travel the South Rim. The South Rim is the only part that is open to the public during the winter and spring months. I was surprised that it was chilly during the winter in the Grand Canyon. I thought it was warm all year! (haha). We had such a fun time. The Grand Canyon is breathtaking and a must see if you ever get the chance to. It is also pretty easy to get around and there are many trails to walk around. A great vacation place. :)
Now off to New Mexico tomorrow!

This weeks fashion around the world series is on Germany. I have always wanted to visit Germany. My fathers side of the family has German heritage (my last name is German). Although I think I look more like my mothers side of the family which I believe is English, Irish and Italian.
Anyways, Germany has such innovative and trendy fashion. They are up to the minute on fashion and like most people make it their own.

Oscars 2012- Favorites and Dislikes

Cameron Diaz

Cameron looks flawless and glowing in this gown. Loving the hem detailing.

Jennifer Lopez

Even though I am not a big fan of the low v-neck the gown itself is gorgeous. Jennifer Lopez always looks good in whatever gown she is wearing.

Milla Jovovich

I didn't even recognize the Resident Evil star when I saw her in this gown! LOL
She looks stunning, love the a-symmetrical design at the shoulder.

Natalie Portman

Many said this gown was very plain for the Oscars but I loved it. She looks beautiful here, especially for after having a baby!

Shailene Woodley

Many were on the fence about her gown. I thought Shailene looked sophisticated and elegant. It did make her look older but in a good way.

Dislikes:

Sandra Bullock

Why oh why Sandra must you wear this? Especially when you have such a fit body? The detailing around her hips and waist made her just look wider/bigger. Also the makeup (observed by my fiancee) made her look older.

Nancy O'Dell

The color of the dress with the detailing at the chest and waist in my opinion did not go well together. But the dress did fit her well, you have to give her that.

Last Sunday the Oscars premiered on TV and all the stars wore their very best. I wasn't too impressed this year fashion wise. Though there were some stunning gowns.

Polyvore Outfit of the Week - The Rehearsal Dinner

I wanted to create an outfit that would be perfect for a rehearsal dinner. We have chosen not to do a rehearsal dinner due to our budget. But we are planning to go out to dinner the night before with my mom, step dad, sister and best friend (and who ever else wants to come along) to just a nice restaurant. I am loving the photo of the dinner in the field above. Just gorgeous! This would even be perfect for a reception. A very romantic and timeless feel.
Also the necklace above is from Papaya and only $6! The bracelet is from fantasy jewelry box and only $33! Great deals. The green in the bracelet would look beautiful with the blue dress. Also, what is nice about this dress is that you will be able to wear it more than just once.

When I saw this in March's issue of Harper's Bazaar I instantly had to share it with you. Such a gorgeous, bright and fun editorial. I also like how they are all jumping in the air, makes the editorial more interesting. Spring is all about bright colors and breaking away from those blacks, greys and browns. My most favorite is the first picture. Very flowy and breezy. I also love that they took these pictures at the beach. Makes me want to be there right now!

Favorite Spring 2012 Ad Campaigns

I found this ad to be quite adorable since I love dogs!

I love the skirt and shoes here. So colorful and fun.

I like the expression that the two models have in this picture. Love the handbag!

I always like when models do something other than just standing around. Chanel had such an interesting and fun campaign.

I liked this ad not only because I love Miranda Kerr but because of how adorable the photo is. I always love animals in a photo shoot! Makes things a tad bit more fun.

Such fun bright colors! Yellow (as well as other bright colors) is a big color this spring.

A sexy dress for a date out.

I always enjoy Michael Kore's ads. They always do such a good job with not only showing off the handbags but also the scenery.

Love the handbag in this add and her jewelery is gorgeous!

Vera Wang always creates such gorgeous, princess-y gowns. This one is so stunning.

Spring is right around the corner and all the major magazines have released their spring editions. In each magazine they are filled with the new spring 2012 campaigns. The ones above are my top favorites.

Shop Ruche came out with a new spring lookbook and I am loving every outfit they have created. It is very girly, vintage and elegant. My most favorite outfits are # 4, 6 and 7. Any of these outfits are good for any occasion, and perfect for days at the garden.

I apologize for being a little absent on my blog. We have been so busy with the packing that I haven't had the time to post a proper post. Next week we are planning on taking the huge move across the United States. We are very excited since we never seen the southern states.

This week's fashion around the world series is on Czech Republic and Slovakia. I don't know much about the countries fashion wise but I am impressed with what I have seen so far. They are very fashion forward and innovative. They add their own twists and styles. Traditional weddings always interest me because it's so different from country to country. It's amazing to me that people still get married that way and find it inspiring that they stick with their traditions.

Work wear can be so boring and gloomy. Why not wear some bright colors? I am loving the lace skirt above you can find it on ASOS for only $35! You can still wear trendy jewelry pieces but keep it minimal to one or two pieces. What's great about this outfit as well, is that it's easy to transfer into the evening. Take off the cardigan to reveal a tank top underneath and switch out the handbag for a clutch. And you are ready to go!

New York Fashion week started this last Thursday. It seems like just yesterday they had the spring shows sporting down the runway. Time sure goes by fast! I am loving all the collections so far. Especially Honor's and Tadashi Schoji's collections. I have noticed that the 60's have transferred into the fall as well as the glam of the 40's. Printed pants and bright colors too have transferred over. Faux Fur again is in style, especially exotic furs.

I love this look for spring. Casual and chic. Colored skinny jeans are showing up everywhere. If you don't want to dive right into the bright colored skinny jean trend, try a blue hue. It will help you ease into trying other colors. However, if you have hips or a "bum" stay away from those lighter colored jeans. This look will look great for everyday, shopping, and shopping at the grocery store.
Take this look into the evening by taking off the cardigan, untucking the tank top, add some jewels and then trade the sandals for heels.

Contacts VS Glasses

Then you might want to consider contacts!:

I am not bashing glasses here. I think glasses can be quite chic and provide a quirky but fun look. However, for those who are tired of wearing glasses and want some freedom, contacts may be an alternative. I don't need glasses or contacts but I thought of some great advantage of wearing contacts:

- You can wear sunglasses, many of the trendy ones too that you can't get through prescription.
- You can watch 3D movies without the 3D glasses sliding (my fiancee has this problem).
- You have the entire view around you, the sides of the glasses are not obstructing you.
- That annoying glass fog, this won't happen with contacts.
- People will see your eyes and you have more freedom with different makeup looks.
- And the convenience of buying contact lenses online.

And one more thing that you can't get with glasses....different colored eyes!:

I love the color of my eyes, its one of my favorite features. Many others love the color of their eyes as well but why not take the opportunity to try a new color? Have some fun on Halloween or just for the fun of it. Want to know what you look like with blue, green or purple eyes? It is possible with colored contacts. You can also purchase them prescription free.

Again, like I said contacts are a preference. I think that people can look fabulous in glasses and can look ultra chic with over-sized lens. However, there are reasons why contacts can be more of an advantage than glasses. Both externally and internally! :)

Adriana Lima looks absolutely stunning here. Amazing scenery as well. Makes me want to visit Brazil right now. Every outfit is well presented and styled. I am loving the dress in the fourth picture. Polyvore Outfit of the Week- Spring Ahead

It is groundhog day and the groundhog did see his shadow, which means 6 more weeks of winter. For those up north that means more cold. For me, moving to Florida that won't matter much. But regardless 6 weeks will go by so fast. Before you know it, you will be sporting the latest spring fashions. I love the outfit above. Fun and bright. The mix of the pink and purple make it an interesting and fun color combination. Pair it with neutral accessories so the outfit shines.

Update on our move. We are planning to leave on the weekend of the 25th. We are heading down to Vegas and then take a mini trip to the Grand Canyon. I am very excited about the Grand Canyon! I have never been to Vegas either. We are not planning to stay long though as I am wanting to see the Grand Canyon more. I know weird...Plus we have to get to Florida! haha
I am planning to research all the famous stops to make on the way. We are planning to drive through, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and then into Florida. If any of you know of good places to stop let us know!! :)

2012 Hairstyle Trends

Glistening and slick back hair. I love how effortless and sexy this hairstyle is. Looks like you just walked out of the shower and did nothing too it.

Anything Poinytails. I have to admit I am not good with poinytails. I have fine hair but a lot of it. By the middle of the day the poinytail has drooped down to the nape of my neck. Quite annoying! However, I do love the hairstyle she is sporting. Sleek and chic.

Urban Wave. Tousled wave are always in. Men always love this hairstyle, effortless bed like hair. My secret is curling my hair the day before and then the next day I still have a little wave.

Intricate buns. Make a bun and add interesting details such as the headpiece above. So glam and unexpected!

Twisted braids. Tired of the normal braid? Try this twisted braid look. Looks beachy and fun.

Side parted hair. I do this hairstyle everyday, so I guess I am right on trend! One of the most easiest hairstyles to do.

With the retro trend, 20's hairstyles are back in. I don't have the length of hair to pull it off but for those that can should at least try it once. It can be so glamorous with a fitted dress or an elegant gown. Adorn it with jewel hair accessories for an evening out.

If you have hair why not do a different hairstyle everyday? There are hundreds of hairstyles to try and some of them are quite easy and quick to do. For example, the first and third hairstyle probably only took 10 minutes to complete. Effortlessly chic! 2012 is all about easy, fun and chic hairstyles. Today is my 25th birthday! This is what I wore. I had such a great day. I found a cute bright blue pencil skirt and a pair of flats while shopping today. After shopping we ate out at Red Lobster, one of my favorite restaurants! I also have an order coming in from ASOS with some money I got from my mom. :)
My fiancee got me a gift card for Victoria's Secret. He knows me so well! As you can tell I like wearing their clothing. ;) My dad also got me some gorgeous flowers!

Jason Wu is coming out with a collection in Target and it is set to hit stores on February 5th. Will it be as crazy as the last collection where the items sold out within the hour? I am actually pretty excited about this collection. A lot of the silhouettes are flattering and right on trend for spring. I am hoping that I can snatch up a piece or two. These would be perfect for where I am moving to. I love the handbags too! I could use more shopper friendly handbags as carrying around a tote can be quite cumbersome at times.

Taylor Swift hit the cover of Vogue Magazine and it sparked a lot of interest. I am a big country music fan, even though Taylor Swift is not really country (more country-pop) she sings songs that hit the heart. She looks absolutely beautiful in these pictures and so grown up! I remember when she first started signing at just age 17 in 2006. Now she is 23. She is such a great role model too for the younger generation, as she didn't let Hollywood and all the partying get to her.
My favorite outfit she is sporting here is the dress in the 3rd picture. So easy and breezy!

Even though I don't like how they styled some of the outfits I do love some of the pieces in each of the outfits. For example, I love the dress in the Sagittarius outfit.

The Golden Globe Awards premiered last night. There were many beautiful gowns and I had so many favorites. It was just so hard to decide my most favorite ones! There was not a lot of colors and mermaids were definitely an inspiration with a lot of mermaid shaped gowns. There was also a lot of exquisite detailing.

Engagement Photo Shoot

We took our own engagement photos. Ryan has the Canon 60D camera and we just used a tripod to take the pictures. We didn't want to spend hundreds on our engagement photos- we want to save that for the wedding. That's the most important to us! It was awfully cold too today so we didn't end up taking as many photos as we planned. It actually started snowing! But we are pretty happy with the results. We are beyond excited for the wedding and we can't wait. Hope you enjoyed our photos! :)

In two words...too simple. I would of loved to see some more jewels or something more glamorous. This is more for everyday and doesn't fit an award show.

I did not like the blazer/top. It just didn't suit my taste. Again it seemed to casual to me.

Mixing girly with edgy detailing like leather can create an awesome effect but if done right. Some reason I just don't like the lace and leather here together. Maybe because the dress doesn't fit her right and doesn't suit her shape.

The People Choice Awards were on last night. I didn't watch it but I love watching the Red Carpet premiere. Mostly for the fashion. I wasn't too impressed this year with everyone's attire. A lot of them were too casual for me. However, the People Choice Awards don't scream formal.

Polyvore Outfit of the Week- Wedding Reception Inspiration

I have been so busy the past two weeks planning our wedding. Our wedding is just six months away so we are having to book the most important things right away. We originally going to have the wedding in Key West, Florida but we have moved it to Orlando. It was getting way too expensive and over our budget to have the wedding in the Key West. Oh wells! We actually found a great place we much prefer over the other place anyways. We found a really cute wedding chapel that offers a great package within our budget. When we found out that it will likely be over 100 degrees outside in Florida I was like....lets have it inside. I don't want to make everyone sweat! haha

We would like to have a reception at a restaurant. Most restaurants will let you order off the menu if you have about 15 people (which we only have about 13!) and sit in the private room. Our colors are gold, light blue, and white. Which you can see in the picture above. I would love to have white bouquets with a gold ribbon as centerpieces. And with little elegant, vintage touches such as the candle holders and place holders.

I got these shoes with some of my Christmas money. They are so comfy and remind me of the Steve Madden Shoes from ShoeMint (but for $20 less!). I have been on a huge shoe kick lately. I just bought three other pairs for Florida. I have had this maxi skirt for over a year and it goes with just about anything. I thought I would spice up the outfit by pairing it with this blue clutch. This is the best way to introduce color blocking in your outfits if you want to ease into the trend.

Ashley looks stunning in that maxi dress. Shows off her slender arms and shoulders. The one I chose is very similar and would look great on many different body shapes. Pair the look with nude platforms or sandals. This look is particularly for the evening but if you would like to wear this dress in the day, wear with a cross body handbag and flat sandals.
Of course this look is for when it is warmer. If you want to wear this when it is cold out, pair with a leather jacket or blazer. My secret is to wear leggings underneath for extra warmth! ;)

LuLu's came out with this lookbook just the other day. I was so impressed with it that I had to share it with you all! Every outfit is gorgeous. Perfect for spring coming up or to a tropical getaway! I also am loving all the shoes featured. I have been on a shoe kick and I want to get the shoes featured too!

Update on our move! We have to be moved by the 3rd of March. Because it will take almost a week to move there (we are driving) we will be leaving the third week of Feb and be there by the 27th or 28th of Feb. We need a few days to find an apartment, get some new furniture and so forth. And of course learn the new area and go to the beach! :)
We are so excited and can't wait!

Now that the holiday's are over and winter is in full force we are all staying inside away from the cold. Many people experience the winter blues. To help with those winter blues wear something bright! I love the bright blue jeans, with a neutral chunky knit, booties and a bright handbag. It will definitely brighten up your day. Something we all need when we experience grey skies for days on end. Especially here in Oregon we sometimes go for a couple weeks without no sun and endless rain. It can get quite depressing!

This outfit looks like it belongs at a resort. So gorgeous, colorful and fun. I love the skirt!

Such a stunning jacket! The color is also refreshing, you often don't see purple in outerwear.

The sweater and skirt combination is wonderfully done. I love the textures and fabrics together. Love the handbag she is carrying as well!

Love the bright green dress with the yellow and red bead detailing at the shoes!

This reminds me of a coat that someone would wear in the 80's but it's done in such a modern, chic way.

I love these two patterns together. Gives me some inspiration for summer! I want those shoes too!

Burberry Prorsum is one of my favorite designers. In his spring collection there is a lot of color, femininity, gorgeous shapes, and prints. All these looks would perfect at a tropical getaway and of course spring time! From these looks I can see that from the 50's- 80's are back in fashion. It is interesting to see trends coming back from so many different eras! These looks too get me more excited about moving to Florida. We are so excited!

I am going wedding dress shopping on the 2nd and I am so excited! I am going for a ball gown or an a-line shape dress. I am going to wear flats as Ryan and I are similar height --I don't want to be towering over him in heels! I won this Shabby Apple dress from a giveaway. I absolutely love the dress. It is comfortable and perfect for the holiday's and winter. I paired it with my new shoes that I got from Kohl's. I also got them from such a great price at only $14! What a great deal. :)

If you didn't already see in the title, we have big news! We are moving to Jacksonville, Florida! We are moving there because Ryan's job is being transferred there. It sounds like we will be moving there at the end of February. We are beyond excited. I am a little nervous as well as I haven't lived in a big city since like I was 10- haha. I am looking forward to what the city brings us and hopefully I will find a career in Fashion! We will also be driving all the way there. I am excited for the road trip as well. I have never been to the southern states! It will be a fun road trip for sure.

That means that we will be having the wedding in Florida. We are going to have the wedding in the Key West and planning on June or July of 2012. So far we are going to have about 12 guests, a very intimate wedding and that is how we want it. The colors of the wedding will be light blue and gold. The ceremony as well will be held in a garden setting. Afterwards we want to have a elegant, sophisticated reception at a restaurant. Those are the plans we have so far! :)

I am so excited about moving and getting married. So many good things have happened to us the past couple of months that I am still in a little shock and oh so happy!

For those who want to surprise their recipient send flowers. Send flowers to your mom, to your co-workers, best friend or anybody left on your list! It will show that you thought and care about them. Just call the local florist in their town!

I have never met a person who doesn't like scarves. They are so versatile and fun. This one is from Nordstrom's. It is by O by Oscar De La Renta and you can purchase it for $38.

For the men in your life:

This gift is perfect for Dad's or any guy who loves food. My dad loves any gift that has meat inside (he is a carnivore). Include a bottle of wine or beer to complete the perfect gift! You can often find gourmet gift sets at Costo and grocery stores. Hickory Farms often has outlets in the mall during the holidays. Even florists that have a gift store carry gourmet gift baskets!

Star Wars came out with a complete set and I could imagine that most men would enjoy this gift. Hey, I would even enjoy it! I love Star Wars (haha). You can find this at any major entertainment store or Walmart, Target, etc.

My favorite are the bikini's. I am not big on bikini's because I have a little tummy and I could see myself wear a swimming suit like the one featured. And of course I love all the shoes! :)

Can you believe Christmas is this weekend and then just a week after that it is 2012? Crazy I must tell you! This is the perfect New Years outfit. I was inspired by all the New Years glitz and glam and this dress is so gorgeous and perfect! Pair with black accessories and a statement ring (or earrings if you prefer) so the dress is the focus. Wear a smokey eye and dark nail polish to compliment the look. I have to work New Years eve but I am planning to watch the ball drop at home. And then it is January! December and January are my two favorite months because December is Christmas and January is the month of my birthday! :)

I purchased this sweater dress on Victoria's Secret a couple of weeks ago. It is made out of Angora and it is super soft and warm. I love the color too, such a great pop of color for the middle of winter. I paired it with my nude heels to have the dress be the statement of the outfit. I also actually felt like curling my hair! haha. I use to curl my hair all the time, these pictures make me want to curl my hair more often!

A great suit for the office and quite unexpected as well. I love the gold detailing at the hems of the blazer and skirt.

Such a girly, frilly dress. Gorgeous ruffle detailing- screams spring!

Such a sexy, mysterious and dark outfit. The hardware detailing at the chest make the outfit even more interesting and stunning.

Another stunning outfit! The bottom of the dress makes the dress pop!

This dress is simply amazing. I love the interesting neck detailing and feather detailing at the skirt.

A suit with a little twist. More fashionable and visually interesting.

The detailing alone at the chest is gorgeous but added with the white bottom she looks like an Angel!

Alexander McQueen's spring collection is absolutely stunning. The whole collection has touches of girly, edgy and sophisticated. I don't know much about these two countries but the fashion there is just as fabulous as any other country in Europe! The designer Vergi has some amazing designs. Incredibly made and quite unique. Belarus definitely has some amazing street fashion and they all dress so chic and modern.

I love the mixture of the leather and faux fur. Makes this the ultimate luxurious clutch.

I am not much of an animal print person but I do love snake print. This one is so elegant and would look lovely with a teal colored dress.

I adore the outfit on the left. I love the cardigan and shoes. So chic and a little bohemian!

This dress is so girly and fun. Would transfer perfectly into the spring.

This is such a fun and unique outfit. The mixture of the shirt, sweater and dress make the outfit visually appealing.

One word- sexy! I love the mixture of the leather and lace. Sweet and not so sweet.

A very bohemian chic outfit. A perfect twist from that traditional holiday outfit.

The mix of the metallic and leather makes this outfit bold and edgy.

Threadsence always impresses me with their lookbooks. They are always well photographed and show off the clothing so well. It makes me want to purchase every item shown! My favorite outfits are the 1st and 4th.

Get ready for some curves! (haha). When I tried on this dress I was amazed on how much it emphasized my curves. With a little help from Spanx my figure in this dress looks gorgeous. Also it still surprises me after a year keeping the weight off on how different I look in dresses. I am a big fan of Victoria's Secret clothing and when I saw this dress I instantly had to have it! It was only $40! I have been searching for a sweater dress and this one fits the bill.

Dolce and Gabbana's spring collection caught my eye because of the patterns the designer used. He used vegetables as patterns! Yes you heard right, vegetables. Who knew that vegetables could look so fashionable? I am very impressed that it was executed so well. I think it is quite unique and sets them apart from all the other collections. Dolce and Gabbana didn't just feature vegetable patterned clothing but they also featured sleek black dresses such as the last one featured. So classy and elegant. Would look great on any figure.

I don't know how because Scotland is on my top 5 countries to see and visit! It is so beautiful there and rich in history.
